When I entered 'svn://www.crystallography.net/cod' in the import window of TortoiseSVN, it is able to connect with the repository but asks for a LOGIN and PASSWORD. I am not able to proceed further from here. How to create LOGIN / PASSWORD for accessing COD, PCOD and TCOD repositories. Please help. The issue is most likely caused by the TortoiseSVN client application, however, this is not something we can advise you on since we normally use the command-line version of the SVN client. However, it should be possible to use TortoiseSVN with the COD. Have you tried to simply leave the credential fields (login, password) blank, i.e. pressing the "Enter" key when the login window pops-up? I would test this myself, however, I do not have access to a Windows computer. Just guessing: One of the problems could be if you really used the "import" function of your SVN client. The "import" function is meant to import *your* existing project into a Subversion repository (http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn.tour.importing.html#svn.tour.importing.import), and, since it attempts to write into the repository, you need username/password do do this with the COD. You should not do this. To fetch a copy of the COD you need to invoke a "checkout" function on your client (http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn.ref.svn.c.checkout.html). Please have a look at the ?Version Control with Subversion? book (http://svnbook.red-bean.com/) if you have not done so yet; it is a very good introduction onto Subversion and version control in general.
