<p>At the moment there is no explicit license placed on the ROD, the
Advisory board regarded that as superfluous for an open database.
However, the similar database, the COD [1] has recently voted to
adopt CC 0 for the database. Thus, you can assume that CC 0 or CC
BY are appropriate for ROD, and will be instantiated if the AB
ever decides to place the license on the ROD collection.</p>
<p>That said, citing other peoples' work is a usual academic good
practice (even for a CC 0 licensed database), and is expected for
any bona fide research publication. Also, customers of a company
will also most probably want to know the provenance of the data
they use, even if that data is transformed and sold along some
product ;)</p>
