One more week: OA & OS Infrastructure survey deadline extended

Your help is needed to see that we capture feedback from as many respondents as possible.

============================================================

Colleagues,

We’re reaching out to let you know that we have extended the deadline for our survey of digital OA and OS infrastructure providers to Friday, 12 June 2020. While we are encouraged by and very much appreciate all of the responses we have received to date, there are many services we would still like to hear from; and multiple countries underrepresented so far.

A reminder of why we are doing this work: In recent years, a rich field of Open Access, Open Science/Scholarship resources and infrastructure, many essential, has organically developed in Europe. Many of these resources, as you may well know, are not necessarily sustainable — even though they underpin our evolving Open Access and Open Science landscape.

Hence, our survey targets digital OA and OS infrastructure providers with a regional, national or international scope in Europe. We are appealing to you for help in getting this 30-minute survey into the hands of as many OA and OS infrastructure service providers as possible.

Their feedback is necessary if we are to gain a comprehensive understanding of existing resources; and this knowledge will be important to efforts aimed at garnering funding support these services and resources might need in future.

Using information gained through this survey, we hope to bring greater visibility and a deeper understanding of the many European-based scholarly communications resources on offer. This should help funders – governments, funding organisations and agencies, institutions, libraries, service providers and others – conceive effective strategies for financing essential Open infrastructure.

Again, we ask that you take a moment to consider any services that you think should be involved in this survey, particularly those resources that we might not know about from your country, and share it with them.

Below, please find an email we have drafted that you are free to use when reaching out to potential survey participants. It includes a link to the survey itself.

** The survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V8Q7R2X)
, which is being conducted for** Invest in Open Infrastructure (https://investinopen.org/)
, should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. It will remain open until 12 June 2020, and no additional extension will be offered. Once closed, we will use the following two months to review and compile the results, which will be shared during the late summer/early autumn 2020.

Thank you very much for your support.

Hello,

I am sharing the below email with you as I believe that it would be important for you to fill in this survey, which is looking to map Open Access / Open Science infrastructure in Europe. The survey is a first of its kind aiming to establish a more comprehensive understanding of existing resources so that services like yours may have a greater chance of garnering the funding support they may need in future.

Thank you,

[Your name]

Hello,

If you’re reading this, you are most likely based in Europe and a part of the rich field of Open Access, Open Science/Scholarship resources and infrastructure, many essential, that has organically developed in Europe in recent years. Many of these resources, as you may well know, are not sustainable — even though they underpin our evolving Open Access and Open Science landscape.

With your help, though, we are working to change this.
** By taking part in this survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V8Q7R2X)
, you can help us bring greater visibility and a deeper understanding of the rich offering of scholarly communication resources based in the European region; and ultimately, help attract more funding. Based on what we learn, we also plan to showcase some of you as leading open infrastructure champions.

Your feedback is critical. The information you share will ultimately help funders – governments, funding organisations and agencies, institutions, libraries, service providers and others – conceive effective strategies for financing essential Open infrastructure.

** The survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V8Q7R2X)
, which is being conducted for** Invest in Open Infrastructure (https://investinopen.org/)
, should take you approximately 30 minutes to complete and will be open until 5 June 2020.

If you are based in Europe and are running a service or infrastructure that supports OA or OS anywhere in the research cycle, we’d like to hear from you. In the event that you are responsible for more than one, please submit entries for each. Once closed, we will use the following two months to review and compile the survey results which will be shared during late summer/early autumn 2020.

Thank you very much for your support. If you have any questions, please reach out to
** survey at sparceurope.org (mailto:survey at sparceurope.org)
.
